This gorgeous Amuzgos top was handwoven by indigenous artisans in Xochistlahuaca Guerrero, México in the ancient back strap loom, the panels are joined together by hand in a vibrant magenta color. These are not made with fabric, but rather hand woven, the designs are interwoven using the handle rod. The cotton they use for this craft is not used anywhere else in the world. The natural dyes used are made from Cochineal, branches from the nanche and almond tree and hay to name a few.
Some of the designs can be traced back to images found on codices and pre Hispanic cultures
These pieces are entirely hand made, therefore no two are alike
